it's so hard to choose, but i would have to say the theocratic ministry school was my most hated meeting.
the first few talks were a rephrasing of mind-numbing society doctrine.
then it was time to listen to a ten-year old read nwt to us........... #3 talks, don't even get me started!

time to pick on the guys!
i was an adult when i was conned into the corporate cult known as jehovahs witnesses.
before that time i hung with a rough crowd of guys who carried guns and did bad things to people they didn't like, or who were stupid enough to let these guys know they disliked them.

The Bethel homes, and branches throughout the US are filled with the affeminate type of brothers.
Some act so visibly gay, it's a wonder they hold the positions they do! Like Seinfeld said: "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"

things that you were once so adamantly against?.
I've left only mentally, for now.
Since then, I just don't take field service and meeting attendance seriously anymore.
I now return holiday greetings when said to me. Also, I've sent b-day cards to siblings and other people. Plan on giving x-mas cards to co-workers and the siblings that aren't in the WTBTS. Also, I say things like "bless you" when someone sneezes that I can hear it.
Those above are pretty good improvements thus far. However, I still have many prejudices do to my upbringing. Some may never go away, but I try my best to keep an open mind.

i remember finding 2 week old lottery tickets in a elders car i was working on.
he said they must have been from the previous owner.
he owned the car for over a year and a half and the lottery tickets were just a little over two weeks old.
One?!!! MANY!!! The vast majority, in fact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quite a few in the congregations (Spanish) I used to attend in the New England area had purposely maxed out their credit cards, taken loans, refinanced their homes and spend all this dough in trips, clothes, and other extravagant deals; when it was all said, done and spend... The theocratic little elders would then declare bankrupcy!!!!!!!!!!! How's that for being Jehovah's people???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some would even be as bold as to counsel others among the R&F to do the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm curious (was reading the other thread about book studies and got to pondering) who had a book study group in your home and what was it like.
and did you go to any homes where they made you take your shoes and socks off and put on slippers or anything like that?.
we had one in our home....got counciled about having the demonic disney movies out, but for the most part it was a pretty good experience.
My parents, while I was growing up, had one in our home for years. It was pure hell!!!
Book study night we had to hurry up and do our homework and tidy up the house for the guests, dinner and everything else was done in a rush; my parents would be a horrible humor just trying to hurry up and still pretend to be the cleanest of homes and the perfect big spiritual family!
Then you'd get these Witnesses that had nothing better to do in life and would show up like 1 hour early and leave 1 hour or later after it was all over. I hated book study night with a passion!

many years ago, i was told that if a person decided to leave the organization for military service, the society could not disfellowship you.
has anyone else ever heard of this?
perhaps the society woulld be tried for treason if they excommunicated a person because he wanted to fight for his country and its freedoms.
